you nearly had me roped and tied

Onto a real update. I've finally bought a digital camera - Pentax Optio 555, and that's a whole lotta camera for comparatively very little money. There's nothing like a good deal to brighten any day. People got their ticket situations ironed out so thank goodness on that, and I'm officially all out of coherence, so a list it is.
- Very happy birthday salutes to
runerinrun!
- Despite my own set of TicketMaster troubles this morning, I called and reconfirmed and everyone I was buying for has tickets.
- I'm itching for this alleged "dirty" version of A.D.I.D.A.S.
- The prospect of the Celebrity DVD being bought by Steve Fatone's production company and finished/sold that way (as suggested by
lisachasez) is a heartening one. *crosses fingers*
-
wearemany's comments on JC's Sunset show made me remember to mention this - "...a thing that simultaneously impresses me and freaks me out about JC's live shows is how he hits exactly the right note the right way at the right time every single performance I've ever seen..." I've been to many shows where the live thing didn't come close to living up to the album, and given that I've been tested to have near-perfect pitch, notes being on-key is something I'm sensitive to. He invariably nails it - "...he can do jumping jacks for an hour and still hit every note he wants."
- Came by some anecdotes about JC from someone in his band that, while didn't surprise, made me all 'Aaaw!' in the midst of my chaos of a morning, and I'm very glad his respect/treat people as you want to be philosophy has brought him such likewise good, loyal company.
- The audition call/retraction for dancers for a fall *NSYNC reunion tour was an interesting blip on the radar. My hopes, despite my last post, continue to spring eternal.
- This was too cool. From
scot_ty: "Valentine was talking to the lead singer of Maroon 5 about their new album and about playing in front of a crowd as big as the one at the Rose Bowl [at Wango Tango on Saturday]. The guy was very well-spoken and very down to earth about their level of success, that he was kind of overwhelmed today. Then he stops talking all of a sudden, in the middle of the interview. When he starts talking again, he says, totally unsolicited, Chasez's out there right now tearin' the place up." Also, Kevin apparently grooved to one of his songs as the rest of the Boys looked on. Famous fanboys make me squee.
In other news, today is over, and really, that's happy thought enough to make me fly.

Date: May 17th, 2004 08:31 pm (UTC)I don't know when it became easier to communicate via lj comment than like, a phone calloh wait, yes I do, it was just now. Because I don't know your home phone number yet, and your cell phone is long distance from the house, and we all use our cell phones for long distance now, and mine is allll the way in the next room, and your post was right here, as was I. Ergo, vis-a-vis, etc.
Wanna do dinner on Wednesday? That would be good for me, so let me know tomorrow. By that time I will most likely be by my cell phone. Or, you know, hit "reply." We'll meet in the middle somewhere.
*end supersekrit message*
Yay, camera! Uh, I'm getting on that. I think. *faceplant*

Date: May 17th, 2004 09:11 pm (UTC)Wow, that's kinda lazy. ;) Sorry, I've just gotten used to the constant up and down on the stairs. Home number: 561-383-6169. Not that I don't always appreciate comments.
Wednesday is actually the one day that's no good for me. I just made plans to go to school and see Jon on Thursday though, so I was going to suggest dinner on Thursday night.
As far as the camera, I've done a fair bit of research and talked to a couple of technicians, and while there's a few varieties of external storage drives for digital pictures, they're quite expensive (over $300), and your only other option if you've got nowhere to download them to is to have as many memory cards as you need. Which is ludicrous for two months. However, there are card readers which run about $30 that load pictures onto computers, so if you can find a computer you can download stuff to the desktop at (provided there's no need for software to use the device), you could ostensibly mail yourself the pictures. Just sharing my information - believe me, as dependant as I am on Douglas, I'd leave him home in a heartbeat if that was at all a feasible solution.

Date: May 18th, 2004 09:50 am (UTC)I'm guessing you mean the trailer thereof; otherwise you need to be sharing something. :-p Whoo, GoF. You're moving along nicely. I imagine OotP will make excellent plane reading (excepting the size of the tome, of course :-p).
Wow, that's kinda lazy. ;)
Yeah, yeah. Of course, I do nothing but walk back and forth and in and out for eight hours every day, and then I run another four or five miles at the gym every night. I think I'd just reached my vegetation point; I went to bed a few minutes after I posted the above and signed off.

Well, if the weekend's no good for you, and Thursday is, that's what we'll do. *bangs gavel*

Okay, this is all good to know. I'd been thinking of uploading the pictures whenever I could to a web account; either my ufl site, or something else; do you know anything about photobucket or the like? And how many pictures are we talking about on the average memory card? Because I don't think I'll be taking thousands, and I will be deleting the ones I don't want to keep. Argh, must research. Feh. Thanks for the info; we'll talk more.

Date: May 18th, 2004 07:07 pm (UTC)Thursday is good for me because I'll be down South that day anyway, so if you can swing it after work until something reasonable, that would be swell. If not, we can do the weekend meetup-somewhere-in-the-middle thing. Call me! ;p
Photobucket often shrinks and sometimes distorts the color on pictures. I'd call it whimsical at best. Uh, I can give you the FTP access information for my webspace, which has 500 MB of capacity that I don't plan on needing anywhere near all of. This is all provided the device doesn't need a software driver, which we'll know soon enough - I ordered one with my camera, which should be here on Friday at the latest.

I'm very glad to hear that. I was about to ask if it would be necessary to write to the fanclub to get their assurances as well for backup, in case anything happened, but if TM is confirming it and issuing tix, then I am content.
Today has just been one thing after another coming from all direction and I think I'm ready to call it a night at 8.30PM just to get it over and done with. Blegh.
(And I didn't see a mention of Lance in this post, which I'm guessing would be on here if you'd seen it yet, so am going to just point you that way now before you stumble into it... Rae has those along with evidence of The Grab. It's, like, the official Post of Pain. Sigh.)

Date: May 17th, 2004 09:20 pm (UTC)By the way, I got a 256 MB card with it - how much is that good for in your experience, if I don't intend on taking pictures in highest resolution?

And doesn't that sum it up well? Done and done here, too.
Official Post of Pain is right. What a train wreck of a post. Lansten! What did they do to my beautiful boy? I don't remember where I read the bit about him chatting up two radio DJs in a bar and their ending up restraining him over the comment, but apparently he's prone to starting such things. Which, while admirable darling, with your build and stature? Not advisable. I bet Joey took no names and kicked (or at least had kicked) a lot of asses for him over the years.
What? You knew that was coming. *g*
And the grabbing. Man, I've said just about everything I've got in the last post and comments. It's so wrong in so many ways, I'm surprised I strung even a single coherent sentence together about it.
