Made French Toast this morning! And it didn't suck at all! Maybe it's time to get seriously thinking about relocating to the West Coast, knowing as I do someone who'd probably find that qualification enough for a roommate.

Anyway.

My room and most of the second floor of my house smells like Lush soaps, and man, I'm almost loathe to use them just for that fact alone. South Florida needs to get its act together and hop on the civilized world bandwagon.

Fandom suffered a bit of a shake-up early in June there, eh? I continue to apprise myself of the State of Things, but wow was that ugly for a good long minute. I still came back to more friends than when I left despite not participating and not being mentioned, which always puzzles me, but hey, cool. *waves*

Something interesting struck in me today, as the Class Three Disaster Area that became my room over the course of a half hour's dressing will attest - I seem to have gone through a fashion renaissance and embraced the slacker rock star look. You know, looking just out of bed, jeans barely decent even for jeans, designer walking shoes, blazer over the vintage/mildly clever shirt to pull it all together? There aren't enough pieces in my wardrobe to make it happen as a Look for now, but Paris really worked over my image conceptions. Which is to say, do whatever the fuck makes you happy, which includes eating and wearing comfortable clothing, and society's insecurities and "standards" be damned. Imperious is a good feeling.

Took my mom's new ride, a fabulous piece of German engineering, with the brother to see my grandmother at Mount Sinai in downtown Miami tonight. She's having hip replacement surgery and possibly some follow-up procedure for colon cancer from a year ago. She's... not doing so well. There's every chance she's too weak to make it through the procedure, and they've got her on morphene so she's hallucinating on top of everything else, and it's really, really scary. I've never watched someone die - all the deaths in my family have been either sudden or natural, without any loss of quality of life. In an entirely unfunny but ironic way, hospitals actually make me lose my will to live. And this is much worse, and it's horribly selfish to even think of myself, but I hope that never happens to me because quite frankly, I'd choose otherwise if that were what I had to look forward to.

And then on the way back, somewhere on a particularly dark and deserted stretch of the Florida Turnpike, thoroughly lost in my own head avoiding any negative/morbid thoughts, I realized that in less than a week, a dream I've had for two years will become reality, and I could barely restrain myself from making loud, giddy noises about it.

So, apparently I only thought my puppy was moping four days ago. She's been downright inconsolable all night, as my parents are leaving for Utah early tomorrow morning. Made myself cry reassuring her they'd come back for her, but she's patheticaly insisting that sentiments, unlike warm bellies, won't keep her warm at night. *hugs her tight*

My goodness, I must've missed the post where you got back into the States - I thought you might have still been updating from overseas somewhere! Welcome home! *hugs*

Fandom shakeup in June, eh? Was that [livejournal.com profile] marej's Post of Hate?

Nope, definitely back on the homefront. Made one of my briefest, complete-sentence lacking announcement posts when my brother and I wandered in around two in the morning a few days ago. *g* Thank you.

That would be the one. I've got actual Thoughts on the subject, to be posted soon.

*hugs* Good to have to back, hon. Did you know I'm only, maybe, 150 miles from you right now?

I do! Yeah, [livejournal.com profile] giddyupnow and I realized too late that had we done Islands first and then Busch Gardens, we could've driven down the West coast en route home and run into you. Alas, we have no brains. Hope you're enjoying Naples, and let us know how JC's restaurant works out for you, eh?

Hey, I liked your pictures, and then I liked your Europe entries, so I friended you. Just in case you were wondering how I got here.

Fabulous! Always happy to hear someone enjoys my often overly elaborate blatherings.
