Memewise, is there anything of mine I haven't posted a picture of? Uh, if any of you can think of something you'd like me to share with the class, just drop it in comments.

At the World Press Institute symposium in lieu of class this morning, Prof. McKeen and I exchanged whispered greetings, which was terribly sexy in that way clandestine things often are. Haggling with Verizon wasn't quite as much fun, but definitely more productive, so anyone who's had trouble getting hold of me in the past couple of days, everything's fine.

Love that while the photographic evidence would indicate I spent last weekend macking on Lance, the friendslist and news media would believe I've been cavorting with that Chasez fella. Seriously, y'all have no idea how tickled pink I am by all this JC/Eva business. Not only does JC's new squeeze share my name, but she pronounces it like I do! It's usually Ay-va when I find it, whereas we say Ee-va. It's not much to want to hear him say it once, right?

Gina at the MF Board is the cutest, most naive moderator ever, answering every question its denizens pose and inviting more. I think it's sweet. Inviting a whole world of trouble, but awful sweet.

Have watched Backstreet-in-China footage and would like to amend my earlier statement - their new routine is not merely Celebrity Tour, but the entire span of *NSYNC's career. The Gone steps! The white gloves! Hey, if it worked once, right?

Fandom Catch-Up, Sept. 30 - Oct. 7, 2004

09.30 - JC struts the catwalk in a whole lot of pink (what else?) for Tommy Hilfiger at the Macy's Passport event in Santa Monica, CA. He declined comment on his personal political inclinations but acknowledged Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives as his girlfriend. She doesn't quite return the favor on E! News Live but seems happy with however she's defining their status.

10.01 - Madonna invites Britters and K-Fed to her estate in Wiltshire, England for their honeymoon. Meanwhile, rumors as to whether the ceremony resulted in marriage or was legal at all are further questioned by documents published on The Smoking Gun alleging it was all an orchestrated stunt.

Also, Quote of the Day goes to coverage of Lance speaking about space in California (he's also been appointed an official dignitary of the space program) by The Monitor for this: He declined singing requests, saying a bass singer needs four other guys.

10.02 - Rumors of Lance's ambitious plans to produce an updated Great Gatsby with Paris as Daisy Buchanan resurface. But then, the source is Fox News, so take that as you will.

Also, from the Philadelphia Inquirer: JC and Eva k-i-s-s-i-n-g • More smiley, lovey news: If, like us, you've been anguished with doubts about JC Chasez's happiness, rest easy. The 'N Sync singer is canoodling with Eva Longoria, the star of ABC's Desperate Housewives, whose Maximonline.com photo spread would make Hugh Hefner blush. According to Star mag, Eva's so smitten, she held JC tight during their walk down the red carpet at the Emmys. We are warmed and emotionally nourished by this.

10.03 - Justin's announced in the cast of another new movie, Alpha Dog.

10.04 - SpaceShipOne wins the $10 million Ansari X Prize for a privately built vehicle that can travel to above 62 miles into the stratosphere (official space) twice in the space of two weeks. It may cost $200,000 now, but there's every chance that that will become reasonable enough for many of us to go to space someday, and that's a mighty, mighty cool thing.

10.05 - From National Geographic News: Earlier this week, British tycoon and adventurer Richard Branson announced the formation of Virgin Galactic. The enterprise will license technology from Mojave Aerospace Ventures, the creators of SpaceShipOne.

Branson said Virgin Galactic will begin building its first spacecraft, the V.S.S. Enterprise, next year. Branson hopes his fledgling enterprise will take paying passengers to space as early as 2007.

*snicker* Dude. Dorks.

10.06 - They've made a movie of The Edge of Reason, which I keep wanting to call The Edge of Raisin, and though I have nothing but volumes of love in my heart for the prospect of Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, and Renee Zellwegger in yet more Bridget Jones shenanigans, my heart yearns a bit more for an adaptation of [livejournal.com profile] valiumbitch's story.

10.07 - Justin played basketball with the Toronto Raptors at a surprise appearance at a charity game of theirs. Lance spent the day at a California school doing science experiments (*wibble* Erlenmeyer flasks! Love! *waah!*) and Eminem is hosting Saturday Night Live on the 30th.

I wouldn't mention this, because oh my god, but Miranda had the best punchline for it, so here, from [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt - Jessica Simpson's upcoming Christmas album will be sold exclusively at 7-Eleven convenience stores starting this month. The seven-track disc, called A Special Limited Edition Christmas Collection, features her duet with younger sister Ashlee, "Little Drummer Boy"; her song with husband Nick Lachey, "Baby, It's Cold Outside"; and an acoustic version of "Angels." 7-Eleven customers can also enter to win, starting November 1, an all-expenses-paid trip for a private concert with Jessica to take place in early 2005...

Miranda: "Trashtastic!"

And over the course of the week, Britney dined at various fast-food establishments but invariably chucked her beverage of choice, whether a Sonic milkshake or a Subway Diet Coke at paparazzi waiting outside.

Also, in no news at all, I love my fandoms because people vid Snape/Lupin to I Think I Love You, Dom wears things like this (the one of him with his head in his hand is one of the most beautiful things ever), and what [livejournal.com profile] beth666ann quoted: "Hell no everything isn't ok. I come in here to find this asshole, groping and kissing on my pregnant brother and calling the baby his when his girlfriend and my brother's boyfriend are right out in the other room." Tyler yelled, waving his arms around madly as he ranted.

And mmm, last night Conan took off his jacket to reveal his pinstriped shirt and faaabulous tie to do the last of his monologue, and really, that's all I ask - the occasional removal of an article of clothing by the people I love. I don't think that's unreasonable.

Inviting a whole world of trouble, but awful sweet.
That's my take on it, too. But I got a question answered out of it, so I'm kinda happy now.

I don't have my vid files onhand, so it's driving me crazy if the do it part of Shake It is the handjob simulation or the hands to the crotch bit of choreography. Oh, JC.

It's the handjob simulation. I had to pull up the mpegs to check myself. Figures though, if JC were to have one part of the choreography that was all his own, that'd be it.

Virgin Galactic! - that single handedly redeams Richard Branson in my eyes!

How dorktastically fabulous is that? I giggled and then thought, wow. I might actually live to see something Fifth Element-esque happen.

...Why did Richard Branson need redeeming?

I can think of early Backstreet performances where they are wearing the white gloves, did Nsync do that too? The Gone steps are classic though, everyone's been giggling about that *g*.

I am not anything remotely close to what you'd call versed in Backstreet history, so it is entirely possible the No Strings gloves wasn't an idea that had its origins within the *NSYNC camp. But yeah, the steps - I gaped a little at those. And just the feel of their staging and some other things really made me think more *NSYNC than Backstreet.

White gloves immediately make me think of far-too-young floppy-haired Nick bouncing around on a stage wearing overalls and white gloves during a performance of "Get Down". It's practically Pavlovian, the association *g*. But yeah, Backstreet have often worn gloves during performances, there's some unfortunate racing gear outfits I'm also being reminded of. And now I'm feeling the urge to watch hours and hours of footage of both groups, and track how many times they wear gloves (and overalls, cause that never stops being funny).

And speaking of the Celebrity tour, I was so amused when a friend showed me some Take That footage, and they did a Beatles medley (years earlier) that's practically a dead ringer for Nsync's from the Celebrity tour. Apart from Take That being much gayer (something I didn't believe until seeing their footage) and Nsync being much better singers *g*.

Well, watching oogobs of footage is never a bad thing, however flimsy or research-minded one's reasons. *g*

Heh. You know, I'm beginning to believe that rumor about Take That. Throwing Robbie Williams into any mix always makes it more interesting, but an environment that's already fostering that kind of homoerotic vibe between its participants? Man, I'd love to have been around for it. Interesting factoid about the Beatles medley, too.

Take That performed in teeny weeny hotpants, and not much else (apart from the one guy who always had to keep his clothes on). From the small amount of stuff I've seen, they make Howie *and* Lance look completely straight in comparison. I must see some more footage at some point, it nearly killed me when [livejournal.com profile] joeyvanne showed me *g*.

As it turns out, any footage watching in the near future will have to be Chris-centric, I've only got a week to put together something I want to do...

Performed in hotpants? Dear lord. *fans self* This explains so much about Robbie, though. And make Howie seem straight, you say? Impossible. I've seen exactly seven or so minutes of non-performing footage of him, and that was enough to bowl me over with just how their people marketed him to straight girls.

Just checked out your footage post for Chris' birthday, and wow. That's an awful lot of reasons to love the man, not that I needed more. Projects are such fun, and when the material we've got to work with is as singularly fabulous as it is in this fandom, it's hard not to go all out.

Once [livejournal.com profile] erilyn ointed me this way I couldn't help myself from wading in and commenting.

Not only do they wear hot pants. They wear them with mesh tops and hump the microphone stands. In a different concert one of the boys, coincidentally named Howard, wore chaps and a g-string. And did I mention the 'this is how I like it' segment featuring the boys telling us how they like to get it on - complete with stage grinding and moaning.

My work here is done. ;)

ajkdsfgdasdghag!!11! Chaps and a g-string? Grinding and moaning? I. That's. Have I mentioned how much I love those crazy Brits lately? Because, holy my good god yes.

Should you be interested in checking out a few pics of the boys I linked to some over here in the comments (http://www.livejournal.com/users/mintwitch/311896.html). They not quite as spectacular as the concerts, but they're still pretty good. ;)

If you don't mind increasing that amount slightly, I'd recommend checking out this recent interview with Howie and Nick (http://www.erilyn.com/media/bsb/2004-10-22-SwedishIdol-Howie&NickInterview{just-howie-online.com}.avi) that I'm sharing (36 meg). Maybe it's just my Howie/Nick bias showing, but it made me both laugh *and* squee like the fangirl I am ;)

Just checked out your footage post for Chris' birthday, and wow. That's an awful lot of reasons to love the man

Glad you liked it, it was fun to put together. Now, if only he'd stop being a hermit so we had more new stuff to share around...*g*

And now for something completely different.
