aruanFirst, this. I love New York, I really, really do.
I have one question after seeing screencaps from Eminem's latest video shoot where he's dressed up to be Madonna, conical bra and long blonde hair included: How does he manage to look prettier than I do most days?

walkingshadow and I took ourselves out on the town today, starting with lunch at the newly discovered Indian place across from Butler and taking in quite the haul at Old Navy (where we spent an estimated three hours and bought matching Wyoming shirts, because we don't yet own every piece of each others' wardrobes and also because it Doesn't Exist, you see) and Target, where we came into chic below-butt-length coats in black and tan respectively. Oh, and I got the most obscenely bubblegum pink bra in all creation. Seriously, I feel dirty looking at my own very much of-age self in it. Publix and a smidge of cooking later (Jiffy makes the easiest cornbread ever, andsogood!), we groaned through the debates with Staci (talk about having the floor wiped with you - Bush will need more than a spitshine after that, not to mention a throat lozenge for all that yelling).
Found out just how thoroughly J.K. Rowling intends to break our hearts before she does her final victory dance on them in Book Seven. And that we'll get "director's cuts" editions of all the novels once she's finished. o_O
Mmm, Lance at obligatorily fabulous car outings (err, no pun intended) with the Osbournes, the rest of the cast of Will & Grace and Elton John, springing for a $220,000 Aston Martin and posing for wonderful pictures in that tie we all loved so much in Mississippi. Hopefully, his coat was a smidge less ill-fitting, but the rest - man, the rest is just too glorious for words. Except the ones she iconed over here.
(Former Editor) Cameron! Cameron swung by with some of the Alligator crew and there were hugs and he's doing well, not that there was any doubt, but it was wonderful to see D.C. and graduate school agreeing with him.
So Miranda and I settled in to watch yet more True And Epic Love In Spaaace, which should've been nothing but Good except oh, hi Problem #465953218 I've run into since updating to XP. Turns out uninstalling Windows wipes your DVD decoders, so I spent the better part of half an hour troubleshooting before shelling out the $15 for the code package, which would've been fine if it worked properly but it doesn't and my main menus are garbled crap and the player stutters at full-screen resolution. *grits teeth* At least the contents play fine and really, it's just ludicrous how in tune Spock is with Kirk. Decades-married couples have nothing on these two.
In more non-news, Tropical Storm Matthew is churching away in the Gulf of Mexico. Where it formed. Uhm... They can do that? *whimper*
