Well, today in Gainesville, I got seven books, a zine, and a photocard album.

Friends of the Library haul as follows:

Umberto Eco - The Name of the Rose
- Have heard of the author and novel and am otherwise developing a taste for mysteries.

J.M. Dillard - Star Trek: The Lost Years
Diane Duane - Spock's World
- I love backstories, seeing what's in the spaces between known events.

William Shatner (with Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens) - Star Trek: The Return (hardcover)
- Dude, I knew death could only keep the good captain of the starship Enterprise down for so long.

William Shatner - Star Trek Memories and Get A Life! (both hardcover)
- Though there's a bit of trepidation, as I'm to understand it took him some years to develop a sense of humor about himself and his career.

Carl Hiaasen - Double Whammy
- Because while not necessarily rooting for them in all ways, I do think the alligators make a good point.

An odd little "music zine" about They Might Be Giants for [livejournal.com profile] walkingshadow and the official album for the set of first-edition *NSYNC photocards I acquired a year ago on eBay.

*wibble* I don't really have to go to work tonight, right?

I don't actually know anything about any of the spinoff novels. I read a bunch of them in Star Wars back in middle school, but these seem to be not only spinoffs but more in the vein of Shadow of the Empire, which attempted to explain what happened between the end of Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Which is essentially what Spock's World sounds like, and that's terribly, terribly exciting. I'll definitely put Romulan Way on the list as well. The love in my heart for Spock knows no bounds at all.

alsdfjsdlfhsdfghs!!!1! This fandom is glorious, truly. Thanks for the recommendations, they're definitely going on my reading list.
