back in the saddle again

Salutations to the lovely
powrhug on the occasion of her birthday! I've spent it in bed with leftover Chinese food, hot chocolate, catching up on LJ and going through the pictures I somewhat foolhardily carried my digital camera around to take this weekend - they make you put bags in a locker, and that's just hasslerific. We had so much fun. Halloween is truly the kind of commercialization I can get behind.
There is no earthly reason it should've taken me as long as it did to read, but I tend to unconsciously slow down my reading considerably when it's something I like to make it last longer. Anyway, through a glass, darkly is finished, and all I want to do is take the next plane (heh, no pun intended) to whatever part of the world
synecdochic calls home and buy her many, many drinks over which I'd fangirl and convince her that she needs to be doing exactly nothing else than writing the third installment.
And now, the Ashlee Simpson thing. We got back around 12:20 last night, and I remembered Jude Law was hosting SNL, so I turned on the TV for the few minutes I was getting ready for bed and caught the Jane Eyre skit - tres amusant - and the ensuing performance gaffe, which made me cringe and bury my head under my blanket and pretty much want to die from embarrassment by proxy. From what I read it was the drummer's faux pas first by starting Pieces of Me even though she'd played it earlier in the show, then the audio people who queued up the voice track for it anyway, but the thing is, if you're gonna have a recording contract, deserve it, and if you're gonna denounce lip-synching, then don't do it, and I just really have no patience or sympathy for people who put themselves on highhorses about certain issues then turn around and partake when it suits them (both of which she's guilty of). Either don't say anything about it, or own up to it when it happens, or just own it, period.
Jude was a fabulous sport during the closing though. Classy chap. *licks* Also, new Bridget Jones on Nov. 19th, and there's just never, ever enough Colin Firth in this world.
