Re: well, U. of Florida anyway
Date: June 14th, 2002 08:52 am (UTC)But on to better things! Like that you have a lj and are writing Smallville and are in uni! Makes me happy beyond belief, because I'm *so* much better with keeping up with things here than in any other sector of life, and I'd been wondering what you were up to :-)
The fact that you're in Smallville now is just cracking me up, because when it first aired, me and Sheila had been sitting there going "Ohmygod! It's, like, Baby's First X-Files! X-Files Lite! (Just one calorie!) I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-X-Files!". And that got me to thinking about you, because you're the only person that I really met more than once and got along with in that fandom. Even though I loved (note past tense, as the seasons progressed ;-) the show, the people never did much for me. And then I wondered if you'd get into this and thought about writing to say you should then discovered I had no idea if you were still at the same address and the dilemma! And not only that, but *youwritefic*! *g* We have a fic-in-progress as well, but like many of them, they're... well, in progress. But I'll definitely read anything you post.
Yeah, I've dabbled in the fandom as well. :-) That and popslash are sort my areas of amusement at the moment. Pretty, sparkly and low-guilt, y'know? After a few incidences of less-than-happiness over the past year, it's just... soothing.
And lastly... erm, how far are you from Orlando? Cuz we're going to be down there next month, in Orlando, for a week. From the 24th to the 31st, actually. Aside from the weekend, nothing else is set in stone yet and I'd love to wander off a bit, both to meet up with friends and to give my roommates some time alone. And it would be cool to see you again, so...
Re: well, U. of Florida anyway
Date: June 14th, 2002 11:30 pm (UTC)I can't believe Miranda and I were so late on jumping on the Smallville craze! We'd caught odds and ends for a while (we watch Buffy and the WB and UPN are one station in Gainesville so they aired back-to-back), but never really thought to watch it. Then one day I happened to have the TV on in the background while I was doing stuff on my computer and saw 'Nicodemus.' The day after, there was an E! interview with Michael Rosenbaum, that friday we went to see the premier of Sorority Boys, and the rest as they say... But wow. Dizzying at points, wouldn't trade a second of it. Very cool that you're into it, but that you're also writing fic? I simply adore the size this world has become sometimes. And just because I have a penchant for angsty futurefic doesn't mean I don't *know* about "pretty, sparkly, and low guilt." So so so not above the PWP genre here. And besides, they shouldn't be marketing the pretty boys if they don't want us to make life interesting for them.
I'm about three hours away from Orlando, a drive I am more than willing to make for some romping. Let me know how it all goes and just maybe you'll get to experience the source of my insta-sunshine on any given cloudy day. :) Plus coffee's never been known to complicate matters. We should definitely catch up.
