SPY REPORT: Ships of the Republic
As previously reported, we will see the predecessor of the Star Destroyer in Episode II - the Republic Military Cruiser. And as it happens, the best way to get an idea of what it looks like is to check out old concept art of the original Star Destroyer. It has the triangular shape, but the top portion extends beyond the back. There's also a different shaped bridge on the Republic Cruiser than on the Star Destroyer.

so if not *precisely* Star Destroyers, they looked eerily enough like them to be at least predecessors, and not to even mention the shivers they induced down my spine at the end of Episode II as i watched the StormTrooper army of the *Galactic Republic* file into them. however, Jack was right about Emper-- oops, i mean, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine being Darth Sidious. i just remembered him calling Count Dooku 'Lord Tyrannus,' which is a name tacky beyond the telling of it (don't you just love people who so deperately yearn and overtly compensate). anyway, it didn't begin with 'Darth' and therefore i didn't think it was his Sith name, and since i knew no other name for Palaptine, i assumed that Sidious was Dooku's Sith name. blah blah blah George Lucas can't write decent dialogue even if it were our only hopecakes.
