The hunt for Lakeland housing would progress much more swiftly if mom weren't pushing townhouses while I cling to apartments. I don't have the mildest use for a two-car garage! All it would do is freak me out, because as much as JOB and NEW CITY and 23 and LIVING ALONE scream grown-up, it's not sticking.

On the other hand, not having to tolerate neighbors quite so intimately and real living space. Yet, all my heart yearns for is a desperately stylish studio loft with a sloping roof and thoroughly open floorplan, not something a step behind cupcakes and carpools. I feel stupid, but there it is. What would help immensely is not having to rush into this for various reasons, not the least of which being that the job starts Jan. 5, but such is life.

[sigh] Back to searching through listings.

OMG, I'm so behind! Have you graduated and landed a job?

[g] So am I, it's all good. Yeah, graduated about a week and a half ago and will start my new gig next Thursday. It's at a newspaper called the Lakeland Ledger, an NYTimes affiliate in Central Florida. Eeek!

Hey, if you're ever back in Gainesville, let me know. Good luck with the house hunting. Also, my phone died..so when you get a chance, can you e-mail me your number? Thanks a bunch!

I got your e-mail and will respond to that as well. Yeah, I suck, I got a pretty decent way through Half-Blood Prince before leaving G'ville, something I'd intended to finish but my stay was cut short by two days and a lot more family than I'd intended. But I'll definitely be back, for whatever reason - my days off will be Tuesday and Wednesday (yeah, I'm the new kid, can you tell?) so let me know how that would jibe with your work schedule. It probably wouldn't be anytime before toward the end of January, but I'm sure working and, well, Lakeland, will make me stir-crazy before long.

[Aside: How do I not have a coffee-related icon?!]

Eh, it happens. I work Mon-Fri 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. I don't usually do a whole lot at night, so when you're in town, hit me up and we'll do dinner. Good luck with the new job, I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead! Oh, and, FINISH BOOK SIX ALREADY! Or I'll tell you the ending. ;)

Also, if you e-mail me your new address - do you have one yet? - I'll send you a present.
