and kids, i'm high as a kite at an hour that has naught to do with even approaching consciousness.

there was checking my Friends page (because whose first action of the 'morning' isn't to sleepwalk over to the computer and check up on their affairs?) and seeing Thamiris's breathtakingly lovely snippet of an update and its inspiration.

there was waking up to the last brownie and the still novel realization that i have in fact completed my first piece of fiction and can rightfully claim the title of 'Writer.'

there's my new good friend Grokster, to whom i owe the rounding out of my Smallville episode library -and- the relaxed home viewing option of Undercover Brother. oh, and the timely download of a remix of Abba's Lay All Your Love On Me made me go a full-body Guh! never underestimate the power of instant gratification.

the pleasant shower (someone finally got the water pressure thing right) and good behavior time my skin decided to put in didn't sour matters any. neither did the red light-free drive to Miranda's which allowed for the four song section of the CD currently stuck in my stereo that always undoes me to play through. exactly.

Miranda made me a screaming mix. CD and case and setlist and everything. ::love::

being surrounded by books has a certain ambiance of its own and Barnes & Noble didn't disappoint. i snagged the People linked above and had to suppress unbecoming of bookstore shrieking upon reading the captions beneath - "Sexy Lexy!" they read the forums! alright, i thought it was damn cool. then again, as Miranda pointed out, you'd be reading them too if people professed their unconditional love and desperate needs to lick your assorted body parts every other post. more goodness to be had in an Anime magazine's article on Sailor Moon secrets. let's just say that the people abroad have all the fun. also, quite possibly one of the best covers i've ever seen: Senator Amidala and the Mad magazine guy dressed in full Jedi regalia as Anakin Skywalker, complete with decidedly limp lightsaber. some people are just too good at what they do. :)

the FABulous little fantasy sequence already mentioned. but never enough.

returning to Miranda's had been the part i secretly feared. i mean, i truly do want to go over Watershed with a knowledgeable third party, but i know it has its flaws and i was still riding the kick of just having it completed from earlier that morning. i need not have worried. she made perhaps the most helpful points and suggestions to date, setting me up for a pretty thorough rewrite, yes, but i found that switching to limited third person omniscient seemed to free up both boys a lot more. less arrogance and indignance on Lex's part, more confidence and understanding on Clark's. blame for the revised ending goes squarely on the shoulders of my then-15 hour endorphin high and Miranda's barrage of mush-and-quiver inducing music.

i just got home, managed to make the rain subside enough to let me in only modicrumly spotted and blissfully without *any* barking dogs. the coffeemaker's timer is on the fritz, which tonight meant freshly made liquid goodness for me. the pot was still fogged from the steam.

and there was much rejoicing on this day that was today.
