Yes boys and girls, the Week Of Gloom has gone (gone! -yeah, you guys have me doing it too) and today, we celebrate the glory of the inspiration behind all the red hearts and chirping birds and Celine Dion songs. More precisely though, we're celebrating the little things in life currently making me disproportionately happy in the face of a truly monumental amount of homework.

1. Joey in My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I should give props to the whole of the production (the theater was actually half-full, which is remarkable for a movie in its second week of release much less fifth month) because it really was very sweet. But Joey. Oh Joey. You make toes curl and my voice squeak.

2. Found the.hottest picture of JC ever. Ever. The background is green, his hair is longish and streaky and he's leaning down toward the camera. God help me but I didn't think that boy could get any more cute. The whole kitten thing makes more and more sense every day, and I can't even think about that hair without it conjuring lascivious imagery.

3. Really though, the mountain of evidence for the JoLa out there is simply overwhelming. To think that the rumors were about him and Justin...

Speaking of the young'un, we interrupt the LoveFest to bring him this special bulletin: Michael Jackson is not yet deceased, and therefore a second coming is not quite in order. This has been said, and that is all I'm adding.

4. There is an hour-long Making of Smallville documentary on my computer, which in and of itself isn't entirely remarkable, save for the part where it's from a British television station and filched during the dead of night by the industrious little elves behind the workings of WinMX. Love the technology. Love it.

5. Jenn's back! And two days later, there is new 60K fic! I should stop right there.

6. Apparently, not only does Gainesville have *several* gay clubs, but one of them has a Straight Night (LOL) *and* drag shows every Thursday. We've been missing.

7. It wasn't Duran Duran or the latest pop single that got a tableful of rock boys grooving - it was Madonna's Material Girl.

8. Yee! They've interrupted my regularly scheduled Radio@Netscape stream with interview clips from the boys about performing. They make faces at each other while they've got their backs to the audience switching positions and enjoy the more mellow vibe that comes with touring, of dancing and singing instead of the hassles of paperwork and the pressure of recording.

So give it, make it, spread it, write it, hoard it, just revel in the fluffy bunny of a day that is today.

P.S. Reading back over that, I can't help but notice that most of what's soothing what ails my sweet tooth has to do with pop culture in some incarnation or another. You can't hear it, but the music on this end is pretty much fueling the matter as well. There's psychology behind this, but I think it might be something like loving someone: as soon as you figure out what it is about them that you're attracted to, the Gestalt loses its magic. The fact that pop culture discourages deep analysis with its happy, glittery surfaces as a general rule helps immeasurably. Conscious seduction can be pretty. And so, so lovely.

P.P.S. Yeah, that was sappy crap. Bite me. ;)

Tuesday nights? Not bad.
DVD definitely. You all can come over to my place and we'll watch it on the big screen tv so generously provided by Campus Club, and the 5.1 surround sound system so generously provided by my roommate!
