thoughts in the key of desire
Nov. 22nd, 2002 04:25 amThere's only us
There's only this
Forget regret or life is yours to miss
Friendship is obligingly providing that 'A' your fellow everloving, overdramatic late-night Denny's counterpart has been fishing for despite knowing the off-key rendition she's all but bouncing in her seat to perform, undeterred by fellow patrons and, as always, forgetting just how *well* her voice carries.
No other road
No other way
No day but today
New York's been haunting my dreams and glazing the attention I should be paying to professors and books, lost all over again on the bustling sidewalks of a concrete jungle whose inhabitants come nocturnal as abundantly as its day trippers. I hear the constant music of Broadway in my head, feel the rush of subway cars in the passing breeze and revel in the exhilaration of riding with a native cabbie as I plan some daring route around rush hour campus traffic. Like Odysseus' men to the Sirens, I am both powerless and eager for this total consumption, irrepressible need and inevitable doom inextricably mated, the cure lying with its toxic antithesis. Thanatos, if I can't be yours...
