Here follows the account of my fall to The Lord of the Rings.

The fall of Sauron was one of the coolest CGI sequences evah.

The adorable little hobbitses! I feared muchly of mass slaughter and the burning of villages, but happily t'was not to be.

Gandalf! With the wit and wisdom and the excellent touch that even he's not strong enough against the power of the ring. Which brings me to...

Frodo! Courageous little hobbit. Love the hair, too.

The Ring Wraiths? Lets just say the sounds were pathetic puppy and good god it's lucky that Miranda was there to huddle into when it got really scary in parts. Because I am a little girl.

Aragorn the tortured loner! All dark and soulful.

Legolas! Damn you most of all on this point. He's not hot! He isn't! And yet, with every screen shot of him, that notion crumbled a little more. Legolas is so much more concurrently beautiful and handsome than any man with that much hair has any reasonable way of being. And the way he speaks! And do notnotnot get me started on the way he wields that bow and arrow.

Also, I've been pronuncing his name wrong all this time. I liiiiike their way. It rolls off the tongue so nicely. Mmmm, Legolas. Go ahead. Wrap and taste those consonants. Mmmm. Le-go-las. He sounds beautiful and brave.

I am in fact a little girl.

On, and before we go any further? Legolas'loveforAragornissopure. Purer love I've never witnessed.

Gimli in the mines! "There is one dwarf yet in Moria who still draws breath." So damn cool.

(said ala A Streetcar Named Desire) Boromiiiir! "...my brother. My captain. My king." I cried. Like the little girl that I am, I cried. There were corners of bedsheets sacrificed.

This post has been brought to you by a vowel surplus, the glowing embers of my burgeoning affection for this epic of a fandom, and the happiness-inducing resource that is theonering.net.

*pouts* I was supposed to be productive this weekend. Bad enough my morning started out not with homework but downloading pictures of the cast.

Lemme just save everyone the trouble. *sticks fork in self* Done. I am so done. Goodnight, ladies and gentlemen.

and the books are even gayer, you say?

I wouldn't dare presume to know what the slash in this fandom is like. Y'all caught me totally off-guard enough with the apocalyptic Harry Potter stuff. And yet, this does not keep me from searching. There seems to be something incongruous about writing slash that promises to be anything but romantic in that high, poetic style.

"I won't miss having to stand for two hours at 4:30 a.m. and have freezing cold glue applied to my feet. I won't miss two-hour drives to work or long, long, long days sitting in my trailer waiting...waiting...waiting. I won't miss one day off a week. I won't miss glue in my ears. But I would do it all again tomorrow."

I have been so, so gotten. Ensnared and hopelessly mired. The entire cast and their wholesome orgies! The big gay love stories of Legolas/Aragorn and Sam/Frodo! And you know, the genius storytelling and beautiful cinematography!

I am in fact a squealing pile of guh! and see no ebb in sight.

Yeah, yeah, you go ahead and laugh at all the already nonexistent free time and brainspace this fandom will consume.

But! Legolas! His sopure love! It. I just. *schmoop*

Manlywarriormanloveissosexy.

I assume that was the bet?

No bet, I was just vastly amused when I was informed of the recruitment efforts being made. And I feel all good campaigns should be recompensed. ;-)

And yes, btw. The books are gayer than a thing that is gay, as many would put it. This may be adequately demonstrated in pictorial form by the cover of the first version of the book that I was ever to read. You might say it shaped one's perceptions from the getgo:

And y'all have been trying to recruit me into this for a while. The books were recced to me six years ago! I am a good listener, if sometimes slow. Taken to heart this time around.

Also, while Sheila was wonderful, she couldn't help me out on the Legolas front. I figure since we share good taste in a streak of blond men, you could perhaps hook me up?

"Don't tell the elf." I laughed so very, very hard.

Until Christmas for the next movie, you say? *pout*

Eeeee! It's the icon!
*stares and adores*
It's a sin to be that consumingly beautiful.
The only thing I have to say to that?
To hell with us all!
