I should've thought this would happen.

What if, less-than-hypothetically, someone were selling my mp3s of JC's show as an audio CD for personal profit?
*seethes*
I made that recording because I knew I couldn't wait the two months until the album officially came out to hear the songs again, an album of which I plan on buying enough copies for a small country. But I wanted to make them available for everyone who wouldn't get the experience and energy of JC live, free to anyone who wanted it. If I'd wanted to, I could've done the eBay thing like so many others, but I never, not for a single moment did it for any kind of glory or profit. And not only is this being done without my permission (not that said individual needs it, as neither one of us owns anything in this scenario) but it's being done for profit, which not only goes against the spirit in which these clips were shared by an extremely generous community of people, but it's something that could well be detrimental in other ways.
Is it ridiculous that I feel as if "my" music has just been reverse-pirated?
Nothing I can do? Didn't think so. *sigh* Live and learn, I suppose.

Date: December 11th, 2003 10:19 pm (UTC)When you mentioned Ebay I just assumed that's where it was being sold. Oh, well that does make a bit harder.
I'm not being "But they're mine!" about this, that was never why I recorded or shared it.
I know that. I hope you don't think I was implying you were. I just brought it up because if it was through Ebay it might have been grounds to have it terminated. As I'm listening to your recording right now, I can't say how much I appreciate your sharing with the community because there was no way for me to go to one of JC's show. I think these mp3s have really upped the enthusiasm for JC's album for everyone. I'm just so thrilled by how wonderful his new songs are and can't wait for the cd.
