Polka-dot ties are silly, especially with pinstripe suits, and no, putting two otherwise intelligent men wearing near-identical incarnations thereof in a split-screen shot does not give the fashion merit. Stewart, Colbert, I realize wearing similar clothing goes a long way toward averting suspicion if you grab the other's unmentionables off the floor by mistake, but come on, we have to look at you on television afterward, and not mixing patterns ain't rocket science – it's common courtesy.

And see, I just think it's such clown fashion. I'm behind the various incarnations of pink that dress shirts have been popularized in. I'm a fan of jeans and blazers, even some of the more ostentatious loafers and long lapels. And I even happen to find them both weirdly handsome in their own ways! And as it makes its hopefully swift and conclusive departure, I just wish they wouldn't put men whose intellect I'm supposed to hold in esteem in clothing that looks like a 4-year-old picked out.
